What are some good lending companies to use?

Asked by Ronnie, Philadelphia, PA Thu Sep 27, 2007

I've been reading about numerous lenders that have gone out of business lately. What are some good lending companies to use for both pre-approval AND to actually use for your loan? Do you have to use the same lender for both processes? Thanks!

I agree with the other response as it is the individual, not the company, that should be recommended. I just bought a house and used a company out of Pa that was referred to me from a friend. She did a great job for me. She worked for ameritime mortgage out of the Phialdelphia and Scranton PA areas. She gave me different options from different lenders and explained the differences between programs until I was able to decide which was best for my needs. Her name was Amy and the office number was 570-606-4589. Good luck!!!!

Hi Ronnie:
You sure are doing your due diligence and I applaud you for your efforts.

Good lending comes from good experiences with individuals - not companies. However, you do want to be careful to stay with the tried and true - in these tumultuous times. Your own bank is a good starting point, but if you don't get the best rate - its time to start the interview process.

Just remember, that there will be times where you open your loan with one company, and by the time the ink is dry on your closing documents your loan will have been sold to another company. Try not to lay faith in a name or an individual. Get everything in writing - that will be your gauge because that is what you have to live with for the next 5 to 30 years!

Good luck to you - I know you will do well. You're already off to a good start!!!
