Strange short sale addendum

Asked by A, Seattle, WA Wed Apr 15, 2009

We got an offer back from a short sale seller in which they marked on the short sale addendum that they may continue to show the property AND accept offers. As far as I know, we're the first offer, so does that mean we're in for a long ride in which we are being held "on deck" while the seller awaits higher offers? Is it right to feel like we're getting "taken for a ride"? Our RE suggested we go with it, but I'm nervous about it. It would be disappointing enough to have to wait forever to close - to wait forever and THEN have it scooped up by someone else is ...ugh. Any ideas on how to approach this? And, if to sign it - how to cope with the uncertainty?
