Barrett Powe…, in Cary, NC

Zillow has become nothing more than teenagers flaming Realtors. Anyone see this trend?

Asked by Barrett Powell, Cary, NC Wed Jan 28, 2009

I hate to see it and hope other sites like Trulia don't folllow by not policing their boards to keep it professional. It is such a waste of a potentially good site. Most post that are answered by Realtors are emmediately followed by flames from just a handful of individuals, many of which have over 4,000 post on the site which is absolutely impossible for someone with a real job to do. I suspect it is teenagers with nothing better to do, but profanity is common and it is very obvious Zillow's "Terms of Use" and "Good Neighbor" policies are NOT followed and their threads are NOT monitored.

Such a waste!

I don't use zillow any more becausse on more than one occasion they have simply lost one or all of my listings. it's a big enough enough pain to have to rewrite the copy & re-post all the pictures but it's just about impossible to navigate the site to do this. and their support is non-existent. A huge waste of time.

Zillow is definitely the "wild-wild west" and with the advent of their new redesign, have made it very unfriendly. I no longer visit zillow discussions, and I was a major contributor there for over a year (with a large number of posts, and I am not a teenager).

It is so unfortunate because sites like Zillow and Trulia offer so much promise to allow Realtors to expand their reach and for the web to continue to empower buyers and sellers. Once a site begins to degrade into no more than a loitering site for flamers the real value goes away and buyers and sellers may lump all sites and us in with the bad and pull back from using any of these sites.

I hope this is not the case.

Hi Thomas!

Listings on Trulia are no-follow - they are transient = not permanent. Your Trulia Profile however is. And we allow you to add 5 DO-FOLLOW links to your Trulia Profile with custom anchor text. Hint - add a link to your listing[s] there with custom anchor text - e.g. 111 Maple Lane, NY, NY 10003. Or add your website, blog etc....Your Trulia profile is dynamic - as you answer more questions on Trulia and add blog posts, the page gets refreshed every time - google likes fresh content.

Hope this helps Thomas!

Sorry, Rudy... I thought you were trying to bolster Zillow's argument. I didn't read you carefully enough. Ooops.

Rudy, I'm sorry.. but with the redesign, Zillow is no longer user-friendly.

It was hard enough to function (in Zillow Discussions) with all the bashing, and the lack of moderation... but then when you added the difficulty in navigation... it's just not worth the effort anymore.

I rarely visit there anymore.

my problem with Zillow,as i have said is that my listings have been lost and i have had to go to the bother of reposting. One of my listingsinexplicably disappeared and when i tried to re-post it i was continually told that it was already listed with an agent(that would be me!) and I could not post it. i could not find any support help to correct it and just gave up.I have not bothered to refresh the listings that are left.

At least Zillow is "do follow" so an agent gets a little google juise for their trouble.
