A few years back, I had requested to show a property in Kent Island Estates (when I lived in Maryland), which was a community with missing street signs, bad roads, etc. When the client and I finally found the house, we discovered that the listing agent had listed two properties on the same street, next door to each other, and of course niether had house numbers. Both were split foyers. both had pools, so we made a guess. We entered the house on the electronic key and started looking around. My clients were real cut ups, great folks, who loved to speak very honestly about the house they were viewing. I love that.
While going through this house, into the bedrooms and talking freely about how much they didn't like wallpaper or something, they came upon the owner standing in the master closet, hiding behind the clothes. Apparently, she had heard me announce our interest and sprinted to get out of the way. It freaked us all out and excused ourself.
Apparently, we had chosen the wrong house.
I'll start with one of my stories. Last year I was showing a property to very fussy customer. She always have found some problems or something dislikes... You know, how it is. One day I found huge home for her in neighborhood that she was looking for. The home was really HUGE but condition... That is something that I want to talk about in details.
Imagine, two stories house with a huge lot, decent size pool and jacuzzi. However, pool was filled at half with murky dark-green water where you cannot see a bottom. I stared at this water in disgust and imagine my surprise, when turtle head just popped up on the surface. I was totally puzzled and turned my face to the owner. She looked at me with a smile ans said "This turtle is big now. I remember when she was very small...". I was speechless, trying to process in my mind, how long ago she cleaned a pool! I should say that turtle was a good 12-13" big!
However, my amazement didn't stop there. Jacuzzi was filled with the same water color and tons of toad polls. Now, I thought, that will be something for me to remember, when these frogs or toads grow to big ones... Maybe one of them become a Prince for my growing daughter some day?
Anyway, browsing through house, I found a lot of strange features, but overall... my client loved this house! Tell you a truth, I liked it myself because I saw a lot of potential in it and lady was buying for her big family.
I made a sale and visited this home a couple days ago and, of course, I asked about turtle. I wanted to eat a turtle soup, but, unfortunately, turtle left as soon as new tenants start whole renovation. Poor turtle lost her home... because one of us, humans, found new one.
Another one where a man was sleeping in his bed with a shotgun over his chest. Pretty scarey experiences.
