Has anyone ever used Models in their ads/photos?

Asked by Ruthless, 60558 Fri Aug 10, 2007

The advice is to de-personalize your home but to make someone imagine living there. Now that "staging" has caught on from model homes, are people and pets in print advertising next?

We are going with the less is more approach when it comes to our photos. The focus needs to be on the house and any emotion we want to convey must be done through the use of non-animated props. A tray of chocolate chip cookies and glass of milk on the counter can bring to mind good feelings of family, even memories of the scent of baking cookies. A cat laying on the carpet soaking up the sun could call up warm, comfortable feelings of lazy summers OR it could be a reminder of Auntie Sadie's house that smelled from 10 cats. We can't take the chance with our clients home that it might be the latter thought.

I have not used models in the past but has staged or showcased homes prior to going on the market for sale.

I guess that would be an option in terms of "human staging". You could use that on print media, but for our MLS and Board Rules we get fined for people or real estate signs being in any photo or virtual tour posted on the MLS.

WoW! Ruth, you sure come up with some interesting questions. I have never used Models before. I had never really thought about it before! I agree that you are wanting to bring out the features of the home, but there may be times when it would be beneficial to have Models in your photos. Thanks for the new clever idea.

I have not used models. I agree with Cindi and showcase the property to hit many different mediums.
