Judging from my visit to the sales center, the LCL has some really unique and modern looking finishes which you might find appealing. I agree with Jim and Joe inasmuch as tI doubt they will be ready for occupancy if six months out is your move-in date.
As far as the neighborhood goes, my advice to you would be to definitely get yourself out here for a weekend and see if it is the right fit for you. While there are definitely perks to the neighborhood, I've had clients that preferred to be even closer to the lake, in the middle of Lincoln Park or right in the heart of downtown (not to mention countless other places as well).
Bottom line, Chicago has some GREAT neighborhoods with something for just about everyone. You should take some time and do some exploring. If you'd like to talk in more detail, feel free to contact me.
It's a good location that has seen a great deal of improvement over a relatively short period of time (5+ years). All the older warehouse buildings in the area have been converted to loft condominiums and new construction continues to take place on Ashland to the north and south of Belmont. The delivery of this project is important to take into consideration as the current structure has yet to be demolished. Another issue is noise/congestion as this is a very busy intersection. Our office is in the neighborhood so feel free to contact me should you have any specific questions.
One question you definitely want to ask is whether this project will be delivering units at the time of your move. If they're not, you won't have much trouble finding an interim rental in the area, which will give you a good chance to learn about it.
