Hi Mike, Tamara (below) is right in that there are many different areas to live in here. The best thing to do is to do some research on your own (look at a map of Alexandria and study it's proximity to the river, D.C., major highways) and then try to zero in on specific areas that interest you. Then depending on your price range you'll have to look around more. I realize Buyers are sometimes skeptical to contact a Realtor because they are afraid of the 'sales' pitch, but honestly, if they are good, you won't be locked in for life LOL. Contact a reputable, LOCAL Realtor (office in Alexandria or Old Town) that knows the area well and who, after listening to your needs - interests-and price range, can help you zero in on some places that might work for you. Remember, a good Realtor can tell you about the town, not just about the real estate there, so that's why using someone who is really implanted in the neighborhood can be an excellent resource for you. We have some great buys right now all over town - from Condos to Detached Houses. Interest rates are super low and if you are thinking of buying it is probably a good time to look around, get a feel for what's out there, and then decide what you want to target. Let us know if we can help. That's what we are here for. We don't bite :) And any of us can connect you with some lenders to so that you can find out how much you want to commit to for a mortgage payment (don't forget taxes, insurance, condo fees on top of that!) Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,

Do you know what part of Alexandria interests you? There is Alexandria City, inside the beltway, and there is the Greater Mount Vernon area, along GW Parkway and Route 1, and there is the Fraconia/Kingstowne area. Many different zip codes, lifestyles, and home types.

This is such an open ended question. What size house are you interested in, garage, age, number bedrooms and baths. And what part of Alexandria? There is Alexandria City in the heart of Old Town, Landmark, areas near Annandale, Ft Belvoir, Kingstowne. Sounds like you need a Realtor to help you find the answers you want. Visit http://www.2hdb.com/kathystark to see all the homes on the market in Alexandria and other parts of Virginia or contact a Realtor who is an expert in the area you are interested in.
