If a house is listed as contingent is could be for a few reasons. First, the buyers could have a house to sell before they proceed with the purchase of this home. Another reasoning for the contingency could be due to the home inspection or mortgage contingency. There are times in which a person may not like the home inspection report and decide to terminate the agreement depending on which option they picked in the agreement. In addition, there are times in which the current buyer on the home in unable to get a mortgage and then must terminate the agreement. Have your agent contact the selling agent to find out the status of this contingency. Your agent can at least give the selling agent his/her contact information and let the selling agent know there is another interested buyer if the deal was to fall through.
