Are there parks where dogs can be off leash in Bend?

Steve; to answer your question regarding Bend Oregon parks and your pup being off a leash my recommendation is Big Sky Youth Sports Complex - It is located on Neff Rd in Bend.... I am sure you and fido will have a great time there.

All of the Bend Parks allow dogs - however in most cases they must be on a leash - same goes for the lakes and State Parks - there are areas that dogs are not allowed... here is the web site for Bend Parks and Rec -

If you are in Redmond there is a new off-leash park. It is located on the trail north of the skate park. You can park on the south side of Black Butte Rd. and it is between 18th and 12th. Hope that helps someone in the area.

Bend is truly a dog-lover's town. I know of two dog parks. One is on the West side of the Deschutes River, at the location of the new Parks and Recreation Building, and the other is on Bond Street, across from McMenamens Pub and Restaurant. (I may have spelled that name wrong!)

There may be others but those are the ones I know of.

Julie pointed out a great dog park that is off leash right along the Deschutes River and The Old Mill. Superb location for the for both you and your best friend. The trail system also runs along the river so once finished with the off leash portion - you can always take a hike up the river towards Bill Healy Bridge or you can also meander along the shops and Ampitheatre at The Old Mill. The Ampitheatre is a great place for frisbee or playing ball if there is no music venue that afternoon or evening. There are also trail systems that open up after September where you can run your dog off leash. I especially like Benham and Dillon Falls just above The Seventh Mountain Resort. You will need a forest parking pass but these are available in The Old Mill at REI. Hope this helps a bit. The other two sites I would visit for more info on Bend and local amenities are: and .
Hope this helps in your visit.

There are currently 7 parks that allow dogs off-leash and they are listed on this website: I'd also recommend another site that has been created to promote the health and enjoyment of dogs and their guardians: I wish you and your dog plenty of fun outdoor recreation.

There is a very clean and fenced dog park along the Deschutes River near the Parks and Rec offices. Our dog had a GREAT hour of playing and we met some interesting people too!
