Often times when a client brings up the age old question of property taxes is is followed with what is a property assessed for, are there any additional fees and so on....I find that this web page helps me a lot when asked about property taxes in Oregon http://www.oregon.gov/DOR/PTD/property.shtml#Tax_Rates and this page may be of assistance for the area you are asking about http://www.lanecounty.org/News/News_2003/Release_12604.htm

Each year in late September or early October, the county assessor places the taxes certified by the taxing districts on the tax roll. Property taxes are placed on the tax roll in the form of a rate per $1,000 of assessed value. Just to inform you, the assessed value and the market value of a property are not the same. Assessed value is assigned by the tax assessor for the purpose of taxation. Market value is assessed by the buying public. When a district certifies a dollar amount tax levy, the assessor will then calculate the tax rate. So then,
to calculate a property tax rate in a specific location you'll need to know the following:

tax levy amount and the taxable assessed value.
Here is the equation tax levy amount/taxable assessed value = tax rate

I'm curious as to why this information is important to you. Are you looking to verify or challenge a portion of your tax bill? Please let me know so that I can give you a more directed response.

property taxes are available for specfic properties at online through the lane county assessors office by address http://www.co.lane.or.us/TaxStatement/Search.aspx by and large taxes in Eugene are higher then those in surrounding lane county and taxes on newer houses are much higher than those on houses 10 years old or more.

This is one of those areas that enlisting the help of a Realtor can save you money. It my area the tax rate varies greatly within a very short drive. You can consult the county property appraiser site for the area you are looking. Be careful because being inside the city limit will add an additional tax, while outside you might pay less tax, but instead pay for water, sewer, garbage, school etc. in addition.
