Discovery Bay- is there an area of the community that is considered more kid-friendly?

Asked by hermione, Oakland, CA Wed Jan 14, 2009

We are looking at golf club and waterfront properties (not the new developments to west, may as well live close to work in Livermore), and are wondering if one area is more kid friendly than the other (e.g. access to playparks etc). We have also seen larger, cheaper houses on the golf course than waterfront, and are wondering which might be considered the better investment, as obviously we are looking to our future and the larger the house the longer we could potentially stay in it with our growing family. We are looking to move to the area as we've heard it's a great place for raising children- we are due to give birth to our first in the Spring. Everyone says that Disco Bay is a great area for families, and recreation but are all these welcoming to small children? Are there things like kid swimming lessons, gymnastics, boy/girl scouts, little leagues and all of that sort of thing? Are there childrens play areas within the country club housing areas?

Thanks! Advice appreciated!

Curious to know what came from this? Kid friendly, pet friendly and activity friendly you can't go wrong with the Discovery Bay area. The real estate market is great and homes here are close to all the things families want.

Hi, Discovery Bay has a few parks and there are "Moms" clubs in the area as well. I suggest you search the internet for specifics. Most of the childrens recreation such as swimming lessons, gymnastics, boy/girl scouts, little leagues will be based out of or found in the City of Brentwood (5 minutes away). The entire area is great for families. If you are into water sports, such as water skiing or boating Discovery Bay is where you want to be (especially on a water front property). As far as the properties go, a water front property in Discovery Bay is what started the developement and what seems to be most desired among a lot of home buyers (especially if you are a boater). In my opinioin, the better investment would be to purchase a water front home.
