There are many family-friendly neighborhoods in the Sarasota area. First I would like you to check out the schools before making your decision on where to live. We can not, as Realtors, advise you on which schools are best, but we have some of the best schools in Florida right here in Sarasota and Bradenton. Please check out our website and click on schools to help you in this decision: http://www.TheBestofSarasota.com. We would then love to help you find a family-friendly home.

Greenbrook in Lakewood Ranch is in Manatee County but it's located right at the border of Sarasota County. The place is full of young families with kids. Great schools. Great environment. Heck, they even have a pet parade.

I would definitely suggest Charleston Park in North Port. It is in the southern part of Sarasota county. The homes are very reasonably priced and there are tons of kids. They always have things going on for the kids in that community. They just recently had a Christmas Party, just for the kids of that community. They also have a very active Mom's Club. They community has street lights, sidewalks, and is gated.

Click on the link below for more information on Charleston Park.

MGS-
I am a fan of the more southern communities in Sarasota. One example would be Palmer Ranch. Palmer Ranch is known for its location- only about 5-10 minutes from Siesta Key. There is a variety of neighborhoods here, and some of the best neighborhoods are Turtle Rock, Deer Creek, the Isles, and Silver Oak just to name a few. Each neighborhood has its own unique feel. The schools for this area are also know to be impeccable. Be careful what neighborhood you choose though- there are several different school districts in Palmer Ranch. You could also consider Rivendell, Bay Oaks, Park Trace Estates, Gulf Gate or Coral Cove.

Despite what is being said by others, most of the residential part of Lakewood Ranch is not in Sarasota County but in Manatee County. Another interesting fact that you might want to know is that Manatee taxes are not lower than Sarasota taxes. They are indeed higher. This being said, do not believe for a second that I am putting down LWR. I live there, I work there and I love it there. It has great schools, great neighborhoods, great golf, great people and lots of great stuff to do for anybody. As realtors, we can find you almost anything you want. You just have to realize that there are certain limits to our ability to find certain properties. Before asking us to find you a 3BD, 2BA gulf view property with den and 3 car garage under $175,000, we suggest that you go to our site, use the MLS search option and see what kind of property you will find in that price range. Then, we can give you as much info on these properties as you want.

Yes, there are many great communities in Lakewood Ranch. As a REALTOR we are not allowed to say things like "Family Friendly" because it is considered Discriminatory. What we can tell you is about the amenties, the schools, the taxes, the demographic makeup of each community and YOU can make your own decisions based on these FACTS.

There are many things to consider before moving into a community here in Florida. One of those is the Community Development District Fee. Lakewood Ranch is a CDD community and as such each homeowner is responsible for paying a yearly fee that can range from $800-$3000 IN ADDITION TO PROPERTY TAXES. Also, there are many communities in LWR where investors bought heavily during the boom of 2004-05 and are either sitting empty or rented at very low rates. Many of these homes are now in foreclosure and bringing down the value of the neighboring homes as well as being Eyesores.

My suggestion would be to work with a knowledgable REALTOR who knows which communities are investor heavy and those that are not. We can put together the information that you need to make the right decisions for your move, however, we cannot tell you which is "FAMILY" friendly. That would be a violation of the Fair Housing Act. It's just as bad as disclosing the number of people who are in a specific ethnic group.

There are many communities in Sarasota that offer the lifestyle that you are looking for. It is a good idea to do neighborhood research to determine the makeup of the various area's within this great county. My website offers neighborhood information as well as demographics on the makeup of the residents, school profiles, crime statistics and many more valuable pieces of information. Please feel free to visit http://www.LouSansevero.com and click on "Community Info" or "School Information". If you would like a detailed community profile for any of the communities in Saraosta just drop me an email and I would be happy to provide it.

When deciding on an area to move you must find out what price range you can afford. Sarasota County has many great communities that are family friendly and oriented. Once you have identified your price range the search begins by investigating particular properties you have pulled off the internet. Then contact an agent to provide you with information regarding the community where the property is located. A relocation package can be sent to you with information on the community and schools. This will help you in searching for the right community that will fit your family's needs.

There are so many family friendly neighborhoods in the Sarasota area (as you can see!), in fact - it can be pretty confusing and overwhelming in trying to pick one out of such a huge stack. Depending on how you and your family like to spend time - there are different neighborhoods for different people.

I myself work for a builder and am not a licensed real estate agent (which means i can tell you things that licensed agents can not).

Feel free to contact me any time. My family has been building in the Tampa Bay area for over 60 years and I would love to help out.

Lakeside Plantation in North Port is a great community for families. Amenities and events are geared to families with children. We are considering selling our 4 bedroom home with a pool. If interested in learning more email sci421@comcast.net.

I love Palmer Glen, a small community in the Tatem Ridge Elementary school district (rated 'A' by the Herald Tribune). You can buy a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom 3 car garage there with a pool and over 2800 sq ft for from between $319,000 (a short sale) up to the $700,000. If you would like me to send you examples, please send me your email or go to my site and look up my listings. Thanks. Karen

MGS:
There are many fabulous neighborhoods to choose from in Sarasota County. They range from Downtown Sarasota all the way to Englewood Isles in Englwood. As Broker-Associates with Michael Saunders and Company we believe that most agents will gravitate to the areas they are most familiar with or the sreas in which they predominantly service. For Kim and I we tend to feel most comfortable from Central Sarasota Parkway to the Island of Venice. We own property in several communities in Nokomis and Venice and have owned many more properties in the past in several distinct neighborhoods in the area. Before any agent answers your question we should all first be finding out more about your needs and wants. Answering your question without finding out more would be like throwing darts at a wall, when we should be focussed on the whole package as the bullseye. For instance, what are the ages of your children, are you interested in having them within walking distance of their school, are you looking for communities that are NEWER, communities within walking distance of the beach? Are looking to buy or rent a property and what is your ideal price when buying, or if renting then what is the rent you are seeking to pay per month. The more we can learn about your needs and desires the better any of us as agents in a local area will be able ot match your needs and service you to the best of their ability. If we can be of further assistance You can reach us direct by going to http://www.24-7team.com or by calling 941-375-6864. Thank you for taking the time to read our answer.

Lakewood Ranch is a very family friendly community, actually there are over a dozen communities in Lakewood ranch. Each community has it’s own appeal, and lifestyle. There are private parks and recreation areas, they even have their own highly rated high school. Depending on what type of home you are looking for, prices can range from the low $300,000’s to over 4 million.
Whisper bend and University Place, are also good communities, you really need to see them before you make any decisions. If you would like more detailed information on the Sarasota area please visit antaeusbalevre.com

There are many areas in Sarasota for families. Find a community with a community pool and some social groups so you have the opportunity to easily meet your neighbors. A realtor can help you locate the perfect community for your family.
