I grew up in Moraga, adjacent to Orinda, and currently sell in Orinda. I KNOW the schools are excellent! I can put you in touch with clients that have kids in the school district as well as teachers in Orinda. Feel free to contact me anytime and pick my brain.

Lenore, there is a wealth of statistical and test data on the web about the Orinda schools - school scores show Orinda has been historically (and continues) to enjoy top scores across the board.
I think the more interesting perspective comes from the students and parents who have experienced first hand the social, academic, sports, and full range of daily pieces of a scholastic experience in an Orinda school. That can show some insight as to why a child might thrive in this environment - from the parental support, to the wide range of electives, to the strong counseling and other services offerred to the "complete" child. I would be happy to put you in touch with people that can provide you with that "insider" view of the schools here in Orinda.

Hi Lenore,

I am an Orinda Realtor and a former Orinda math and science middle school teacher. My son, Tyson Krumholz, has just been elected to the Orinda Union School Board.

Obviously, I know the schools very well. I taught in the Orinda Schools for over 11 years, was appointed to the Califfornia State Math Textbook Selection Committee, 5 of our children completed 12 years of school in the Orinda Schools and we have grand children who have graduated from and younger ones who are attending and the Orinda Schools.

Please contact me if youi need more information.

My kids went to school in Orinda for Elementary. They are now in High School - Miramonte - which is in the Acalanes School District. All the schools in Orinda and its surrounding communities of Lafayette and Moraga (thus LAMORINDA) are all hight ranking schools in the nation, top in California. If you need comparable test results, let me know and I can email that over to you.

There is a very high parent participation from elementary thru high school..good after school programs ..etc...Call or email if you need more in-depth infos.

Orinda has the best owner occupancy ratio in Contra Costa.
Lafayette and Moraga should be your next choices......
I would rate the schools a 9.5 on a scale of 10

All of the schools in Orinda are excellent. The Orinda Union Elementary School District (K-8) is rated number 1 in the state and every one of the schools is outstanding. Miramonte High School is also among the very highest rated (API of 905). It is in the Acalanes Union High School District which is also rated Number One in California. Orinda is a community that has always strongly supported its schools. In addition to academics, there are music, art, science, computer, language, environment and PE programs. The schools in Lafayette and Moraga are also excellent and strongly supported by the communities. If you would like more information about schools in the area, our web site has links to their sites (see below).
