I would not consider the casinos in general to be family friendly although the Mohegan Sun does offer Kids Quest and Techno Quest for children who need amused while their parents are gambling.

on a side note - i could never understand the concept of "family friendly casino".
YOu have to be 21 to enter.
You are surrounded by people drinking, gambling, smoking like chimneys, and in a lot of cases being complete degenerates.

what exactly is family friendly about that?

If you are planning on visiting the casinos without a nanny/babysitter to watch the kids while you are gambling, I WOULD NOT bring the kids to the casinos. They will not be permitted to enter gambling areas. I would save up for a Vegas trip instead and stay in one of the many hotels that has introduced a number of ways to keep your kids happy, occupied and SAFE while you have a little grown up fun! :) Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are also ridiculously overpriced when it comes to minimum bets. I suppose this is due to the fact that they CAN BE. Without competition around, they can basically rip off their customers who are itching to gamble. Try to be patient and wait for a Vegas package deal to come your way. Once school gets out, you are likely to find some fabulous deals to get to one of those enormous (air conditioned) casinos with a pool and other amenities for you and ALL the members of your family to appreciate!
For instance, you can stay at the MGM for $68/night from May 26 - June 8! My guess is, you'll find even better deals toward the end of June!

What could possibly make Mohegan Sun's and Foxwoods casinos is amazing atmosphere an afterthought

Mohegan Sun offers a babysitting service that I have used myself. My daughter loved it there. They will even feed your child, too. I'm not sure how good Foxwoods is at this, but they do have an arcade. It's also easier for kids to walk around at Foxwoods and not be in a casino. It's more like a mall for them. I guess it depends on the age of your children.

I have to agree with the others. Even if they provide services for kids, no casino is "family friendly." Casinos survive on gambling. There's a huge amount of drinking. Plus, casting no aspersions on Mogehan Sun or Foxwoods, you also find a lot of illegal activity and substances at many casinos.

Plus, Las Vegas tried to be "family friendly" a few years back. Some properties (I think the MGM Grand was one) even built small amusement parks. That lasted a few years, but the casinos themselves realized that the two concepts--gambling/casinos and "family friendly"--didn't work well together, and they soon abandoned that approach.

If you want "family friendly," go to Disneyworld. If you want gambling, go to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.
