We countered a counter offer on a probate sale for about $20K more for what it ended up selling for. The

listing agent told out agent that they had a counter that was way higher then ours, but it sold for the lower 1st counter amount. Is there anything we can do?

No. It's possible that when the first offer was accepted it was higher than yours but through the course of the escrow it may have been renegotiated for any number of reasons. In addition, the other buyers may have had terms more favorable to the seller such as a quick close and/or a lot of cash down so the final price was less of an issue. If the house closed it's a done deal and it's best to let this one go and continue your search. Good luck!
