Hi Mason,
I will also chime in again, also about Oakmont. I represented some out of town buyers last year who looked all over the county and settled on Oakmont and are quite happy with their investment, and the area. The advantage of Windsor over Oakmont might be closer proximity to major shopping and services such as the Sonoma County Airport which has non-stop flights to various western locations.

Hi Mason, Windsor is a lovely community. My daughter moved there a few years ago from Cloverdale and she loves it. I worked there for years, in my life prior to real estate.

The price range you mentioned would allow your parents to locate a nice house in one of the more desireable areas. The range of $300,000 to $500,000 would offer then the best selection. If they are looking for a "senior community" where in order to live in the community atlesat 1 of the residents must be a senior, there is a small one in Windsor by the name of Brooks Creek. It's well located across from the shopping center that Safeway is at.

As others have mentioned Oakmont is a wonderful retirement community. Oakmont touts itself as being the Active Adult Community. It is very nice, and has many different type of housing options like condo's, duets, 4 plexes, single family residences and apartments. There are assisted and non assisted living situations there as well. I tried hard to talk my mom into buying a home in Oakmont, hopefully someday she will. I wouldn't mind living there myself.

Best of luck to your parents and their search for that perfect retirement home.

Mason,
Considered Oakmont Village for Active Adults in Santa Rosa. There are some fine homes on the market right now that may fit your parent perfectly. We have a website that shows listing in Oakmont Village and information about activities in Oakmont. Contact me for more information and an appointment for showings. We live in Oakmont Village and work in real estate sales in Oakmont Village.

Hi there Mason,
There are some great deals in Windsor right now as well as other parts of Sonoma County. The past dozed years have seen lots of new developments in Windsor and much of this newer inventory is available at prices considerably lower than a couple of years ago. At the same time there are many amenities, such as the nearby golf course, the revitalized new downtown Windsor with dozens of shops and restaurants, and the incredible proximity of many parks, trails and wine tasting within a mile or two of this property. Many buyers and investors are active in our Sonoma County market right now, and many of our buyers are from the greater Bay Area who find that they can get a lot for their money an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Please let me know if I can pull some properties for you to look at with them in your price range, you will be pleased at what you find.

Hi Mason,

There are many really nice homes in Windsor for sale and it's a great area. Unfortunately the home you have referenced in your question is in escrow already. But if you would like to call or email me, I would be happy to help you find some that are available. You can also tell me a little more about what you are looking for specifically and then we can narrow the search. I have a listing in Windsor that is a single-level and has a large RV parking spot. It's priced at $445,000 and is in a great neighborhood. You can see it on my website. Please feel free to call me at (707) 239-8489 or email me at Shannon@DryCreekRe.com. Thanks so much and have a great day!

A home in Windsor for 220K to 500K is very do able. Give me a call or email me and we can talk about what they want in a home, ie.. sq. foot, how many bedrooms, and so forth. I will then do a search with your criteria.
