The only way to know for sure these days is to contact a local and trusted mortgage broker in your area. stay away from the internet lenders.... You can get prequailified at no cost and they can tell you what programs are available. many states are ofering different programs to assist home buyers. good luck

Dear Claudia,

It appears that this particular house is already sold, but I'm sure that there are other similar properties

Most government programs (be they Federal, State, County or City) are applicable to most types of residential real estate (with some occasional exceptions). There is currently a Federal Downpayment/Closing Cost credit for first time homebuyers available of $7,500.00, which as I understand it is a loan from the Federal government that is repayable at $500.00/mo over 15 years as a reduction of your tax refund (or a $500.00 increase in your tax liability). You can get some info on that specific program at http://www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com.

I would contact Dan Larkin with Professional Mortgage Partners at 312-952-8068 (cell) or 847-277-1781 (work). He and his company are very familiar with almost all programs available for buyers in the greater Chicagoland area. Good luck.
