I would suggest speaking with your agent and have them find someone that can help you out.
Most agents work with agents in other parts of the state ( and other states) that can help when their clients are relocating. I do.. I have at least two agents in each county in NJ that can cover my clients and I know that they will be taken care of by the agents I send them to work with.
I make a point of making connections with good agents, it helps my business to refer my current clienets to someone that I trust to make sure the process is as smooth and professional as I handle it.
I research the agents I work with and select them carefully to establish the referral and monitor the transaction from my end to ensure everything is being done correctly.
I expect updates from the agent I refer my clients to and I attend the closing.

I would ask your current agent for him or her to refer you to an agent that is an expert in the areas you may be interested. Not only will the refered agent have MLS in the area, but also tax, deed restrictions and other important and helpful information that might help you find your deam home. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that you have done a great deal of the research on your own. You obviously seee the value in working with an agent, but are not sure how far those loyalties go.
My suggestion is that you ask your current agent for a referal. If the agent has your best interest as a priority, he/she will provide you with the name of an agent or brokerage to help you. As a bonus, your current agent will even share a percentage of the commission with the referred agent. You of course are under no obligation to the new agent, but you will avoid working solo in a new area and have the opportunity to work with somebody familiar with your new area. If you do not like the new agent, interview others and know that you tried to do the right thing for your current agent.
Your agent will not be able to do a good job for you if he does not have Hudson County MLS access and geographical competence in that area.
If you decide to look in that area, you will need a new agent. You can either have your existing agent refer someone in that area or find one yourself.
But the bottom line is, if you choose a new area to live where your current agent does not provide service, that agent is out.
You are under no obligation to that agent if you decide that Hudson County is where you want to live.
