You definitely want to try http://sea.craigslist.org

There aren't a lot of other sites with "rooms for rent".

I work with a lot of investors & I'm a member of the RHA/Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound (akin to what the Board of Realtors does for real estate agents but in this case for landlords-P.A.C.) I direct my clients to http://www.zilpy.com/ to find out what rents are in an area. Just plug in an address & it'll tell you what the rents are in the area. I am constantly queried about what rents are in a neighborhood because many are thinking of renting out their homes/condos/apts instead of selling.

Marieta,
I would suggest inquiring at Northaven ( http://www.northaven.com/ ) in the Northgate area. I believe their monthly rate for an efficiency studio is just above $400/month. There's also a required meal (dinner) plan for an additional fee. Their location is excellent for a senior with many services nearby.
