Hello Krystal,

It will depend on what kind of the lot you are looking at. Is it commercial or residential? The value of of a lot depends on a lots of factors. Working with an expert will save you a lot of time and your agent will also help you with the research on the value of the lot with more accurate information.

Besides contacting your local realtor, you could contact the local title company and ask for some comparables. This service is free.

Krystal,

The best thing you can do is contact a real estate professional from your target location for this information.
Good luck

Krystal,

The value will depend on recent sales of nearby lots (typically within a mile of the property) as well as the type of zoning of the land. Is it residential or commercial zoning? Questions such as that.

Hi Krystal,

Finding the value of a lot in the San Jose area can be a bit difficult as open lots are few. A comparative market analysis is one of the most common ways of determining value. A comparative analysis would compare the lot in question with other lots in the area which have sold. Since lots aren't common in San Jose, I would also suggest taking a look at recently sold homes that were purchased and then fully remodelled or completely torn down and rebuilt.

If you would like some assistance in gathering data, I would be happy to help. Feel free to send me a quick email (April@AprilTavares.com) with the details of the property and I can see what I can pull up for comparable sales.

Regards,
April

Do a comparative market analysis & pull tax records to get a general idea of what property is listed/sold for in the area. Your Multiple Listing Service should have all the tools you need.
