Most if not all of the lakes in Putnam County are private meaning you have to have deeded lake rights to gain access. Also, most of the lakes don't allow motor boats except for Lake Mahopac and Kirk Lake in Mahopac and Lake Oscawana in Putnam Valley. Others just allow row boats or sail boats. If I can be of any service to you, let me know.

Lake Peekskill is one of many private lake communities in Putnam County. It was founded as a summer retreat community but has since become year round single family residences. As such, there have been serious well and septic issues. If you are considering Lake Peekskill, you should also look into Continental Village in Garrison and Lake Oscawana and Roaring Brook lakes in Putnam Valley. Please feel free to contact me so I can send you listings that match your criteria.
