The never ending discussion about commissions created a long and heated debate in another thread.

Asked by Gary De Pury, Pasco County, FL Thu Aug 14, 2008

While I am not trying to cause that same stir using commissions as the tool, I am trying to get an enlightened crowd to answer the following question.

What is the reason that so many in our industry are so cruel and or hateful to other of differing opinions. Are we not all partners in the same profession? Do we not all have the same goals in mind? Do we all not deserve to earn an honest living?

Regardless of your business model, be it full service or fee based, what is it that makes some of us believe that we are so superior in our plan that we can insult and demean those of the other plans. Are we becoming as divided as the political parties, and therefore destined to ruin, or are we simply the next generation of folks defending what we so vehemently believe in, until we believe in something else? Just food for thought; I await your replies as an interested party.

Well, you two, I don't think we need to use this forum to insult each other. The seller and the buyer are the ones who ultimately determine what services they want and what they are willing to pay for. It is my job as a full time full service realtor to show my clients why I think I can do the best job for them. They don't want to hear me insult others, either--they just want to know how I can help them, and what I do to earn my commission that ultimately makes me worth the dollars they are going to pay me. The public has NO interest is "cat fights" between realtors!! Let's all be professional, and promote what we can do for others, and let the consumer decide!!!!!
