Good Question. If you are within 1000 yard of the beach there is state insurance that is priced less. Private Insurance depends on when your home was built and there are discounts for newer homes that have the new building codes. I have a $500k home in Bluewater Bay, Niceville and it runs me about $2,800 year. I have $250k of FEMA flood insurance and it cost me $300 year. I hope this help's with your question

Don't go on the average, call and get an insurance quote on the property in Destin before making any offer. Insurance in Destin can be very costly and there are several factors involved to determine the price. You should have the property print out report when calling for your quote. My clients have had success with Term Brokers Insurance in Fort Walton Beach and Niceville Insurance Agency in Niceville. Good Luck

Kaitlyn, there are many properties in Destin that are not considered to be in a flood zone, and many that are. If you are in an association such as a condominium association, the insurance is part of your condo association dues---all owners share the price of the overall insurance for the total property. In a detached single family home, it is all about location location location--your elevation and your distance from the gulf or the Choctawhatchee Bay. A call to a local independent insurance agent, which I would be happy to make for you, when you have identified a property that interests you would be the best way to find the actual answer to your question--in short, there are no "averages" in a beach location because of the variables.
