What are the most family-friendly towns on the Jersey Shore? Where can we get the most for our money?

Asked by Keripc, 11560 Mon Jul 21, 2008

We have 3 girls -- ages 12-5-2 -- and we love the beach and would love a pool too. Are there any condos/townhouses that have a community pool near or on the beach in any shore towns?

I would think schools are your biggest priority since you have 3 children. I would go to Freehold.

I just got a new listing yesterday in Keansburg, the townhouse condo was built in 2002 still practically new and across the street from the beach, around corner from the marina and two blocks from an amusement park, about 3 minutes from the ferry to NYC and close to the highways and trains and other transportation.

This is a 3 floor unit with 4 bedrooms, 2 full, 2 half baths a 4 car driveway and a 1 car garage, the taxes were recently lowered and this is a Very Rarely available complex. It just so happens the neighbor is selling his unit and just lowered the price to $399,000

My unit is nicer and priced much better at $360,000 for a F...A...S...T... sale.

Since you asked your question in Spring Lake, I will tell you which towns in that area have condos with pools:
The closest community to the beaches of Spring Lake would be Fairway Mews. It's in Spring Lake Heights. Depending on where in the development you purchase, you can be within 7 blocks to Spring Lake Beach. They have a pool and also are on an executive golf course. It's a mixed community both with children and retirees.
In Brielle, you have Brielle Landing, Braclay Woods, and the Drawbridge. However, Brielle does not have a beach of their own. It's known for being a community along the Manasquan River. The closest beach to Brielle is Manasquan.
Then, there's Wall Twp. where you have Weybridge and Allaire Country Club Estates. Weybridge is just off Rt 35 which is about 1.5 miles to Belmar's beaches and Allaire is on Hwy 138, about 5 miles to the beach.
If you would like pricing for these or have any additional questions, you can search these properties on my website, or drop me an email and I'll send you out some listings to review.
All these towns are kid friendly by the way and as far as getting the most for your money, I would say probably in Fairway Mews where the condos start at $375,000 for a 2 bedroom. You'll pay closer to 5 for a 3 bedroom, though.

I live just 8 miles from the beach and a block from a lake...that's good for me. My questions would be; Are you looking to buy a home? If so, would you be living here year round or in the summer monthsw Are you looking for a rental, if so for what period of time? How many bedrooms...Are you also interested in community activities?

I have a large amount of information, email me and I'll get it to you!

Good morning,

Mystic Island is on the Mainland with a few townhome/condo developements with pools a short distance from LBI and Briganitne beaches. Check out my website, these townhomes are listed there or contact me direct , I would be happy to email a list of current available. Good Luck

Hi Keripc, I have a special fondness for Long Beach Island - it has certainly changed over the 17 years we've had a place there but all in all, I still think it is a great place. Not much in the way of townhomes and condos on the island - some, but most expensive. But there are some developments on the mainland which would be a short causeway ride from the beach. Having said all that, I think much of the magic of Long Beach Island or LBI as we say, is being ON the island. You've got all price points on the island -and in spite of market conditions, they still are pretty high.

Add it to your list - and don't hesitate to reach out for more input on this area if you consider it.

We have not regretted for a minute buying our place on LBI. I think our best family memories are from our time there.

Best,
