Heather Clay…, Home Buyer in Des Moines, IA

Is it a good time to buy a house in Des Moines, Iowa? The prices have not gone down, and there doesn't seem

Asked by Heather Clayton, Des Moines, IA Mon Jul 21, 2008

to be a downturn in the market. We found a house we like, but are afraid if we buy it now the same type of house will be sold for alot less in six months or so. Any comments from anyone who might have more of an inside scoop would be appreciated.

Hi Heather
As always, tyler answers the question very well. In the current market conditionsyou can never guarantee your new home will not depreciate. When you can do is make sure your real estate professional runs a market analysis for you and you make an informed buying decision. If you buy the house you love and it is the best for your family, then a short term downturn in the mrket should not worry you. Call Tyler or myself if you would like more personal assistance.

Heather ~ Perhaps work with a realtor and look for a home foreclosure with equity. At times it could take awhile locating a home however worth the effort. GREAT QUESTION Welcome to Trulia

Great question. This is one of the reasons I love owning a home in Iowa. We just haven't seen the fluctuations in our market like others have.

Truth is, it is an extremely good time for just about anyone to buy the right house. Mortgage rates are extremely low. This means you can buy more home for the money right now.

I'd be happy to help you with answering specific questions and connecting you with some great professionals around town if you'd like.

Just remember, all real estate is local. Iowa's weather has never been the same as California's. Real estate is the same way!

Thanks again.
