Is TEMPOFF a listing status only used in the DC metropolitan area, in the MRIS? Any searches I do for the?

Asked by Lollipop, Vienna, VA Sat Jul 19, 2008

term TEMPOFF all lead to MD/DC/VA listings. I can't find any national articles on this status.
Does anyone have more info on TEMPOFF? What are the usual reasons for TEMPOFF over just taking off the listing? How easy is it to take a listing on and off TEMPOFF? etc...

In our SE MN/Western WI MLS, we don't have TEMPOFF, but we do have TNAS, which stands for "temporarily not available to show". It's fairly easy to set - but requires seller approval on a form, and there are rules about how long you can be at that status.

I came across TEMPOFF today in Herndon, VA. The real estate agent in charge of the property received 11 offers for a place, so they put it in TEMPOFF to stop the madness so they could sort through an offer, with the intention of accepting them. Hope this helps!

Temporarily Off the Market means the house is listed for sale but at the moment something in the seller's life has taken precedence over showing and selling the house so they have temporarily stopped showing it. They will put it back on as soon as they have their life in order.

TEMPOFF ~ great question, means it is temporary off the market # of reasons why, maybe the seller has house guest preference not have any showings, updating, moving items to storage house looks like a disaster while they are packing some boxes, could be out of town not wanting anyone on property, some realtors may not "lock up" after a showing, person could have had surgery may not be able to vacate a property while agents walk thru with potential buyers.
