David Weekley is an awesome builder! They build a really solid product that is Energy Star Certified and Green Built. Most of the homes will be green built w/in the next 5 years, so prospective homeowners are going to start asking for this. If your home is not green built, it will certainly date the home. If you could get one that's green built for the same price as another one you liked, but wasn't green built and going to save you money on your utilities, be a more comfortable home, have no hot spots in the home and all the things Green Built does for you, which would you want to buy? They've got a great reputation and warranty department.
The area is very nice. Celebration Park is always a big draw for families and will help with resale as well.
There's all kinds of commercial going in, too. The Allen Premium Outlets are right there, too, which is big. Additionally, they are building a brand new mall at 75 and Stacy Road - The Village - that will be along the lines of Firewheel. It's so cool - it also will house a new eight screen Gold Class Cinema which will offer plush recliners equipped with a call button for personal wait service where you will be served gourmet food and wine. The Village at Allen will be a 181-acre development at the SE corner of Stacy Rd and 75. It will offer specialty shops, restaurants, office space, a hotel and a huge event center. This area also borders Fairview and Lucas which are very nice towns with high property values and highly rated schools.
Allen has grown to 77,000 - from 19,000 in '90. City leaders project that Allen will reach its "build-out" by 2012, with a maximum population of about 98,000. Avg home prices in 2007 for Allen are almost $350k, so your money is well parked in this nice community. You never want to be at the lowest end or highest end to get the best ROI for your home. This is usually the largest investment people will make, so it's important to consider these factors as well.
The schools are also great! Eight Allen ISD campuses were rated exemplary last year.
Happy to help,
Windgate Manor is in a convenient location with easy access to 75-Central Expressway (which will take you North to McKinney or South to Plano or Dallas). The area is still growing and you will find Allen to be very family friendly.
The builder is David Weekly Homes, which is a reputable builder in our area. Their homes are good quality and they stand behind their workmanship. They have building in the South part of the United States since the 1970's or so.
