I see many vacation rentals but not many yearly rentals. I've posted an add on craigslist but still nothing.

Contact a local real estate office-- that's where you'll get the most help. If they don't have something, ask for the name of others in the area who also handle rentals. Most good agents will be glad to give you one or 2 other names to contact.
Hope that helps

Check out http://www.northeastpamls.com which is the public access to the multi-list for the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors. You will likely mainly find rentals in the Scranton area, but something in Wayne County may pop up. The Pike/Wayne Association of Realtors - (public access, http://www.pare.org) does not currently have any rentals listed. You might also check the websites for the local newspapers - The Wayne Independent, The New Eagle and The Scranton Times. And of course, call all the local real estate companies!

Check with military housing department on the Base. They will guide you and have a list of resources and names of local newspaper, real estate companies and apartments.

More yearly rentals are coming on daily. Grab your phone and a notebook. Call the different agencies and put in your request. This way you will assure yourself of someone that you will feel comfortable working with and hopefully attain a rental that will suit you. I see that your are presently in Paupack. Make sure that you specify which school district (if needed). You have wonderful answers below; read them all. You might also try posting on Craigs a Request.

My friend, real estate agents not only help people find homes FOR SALE we also assist with RENTALS. The best advice -- contact a local agent who specializes in rentals in the area where you will be transferred. In addition, the post to which you are transferring can usually offer assistance as well. Best of luck!

Donna,

There are a few vacation rentals that will go year round.. Of course they all have stipulations and most are in communities.

I am in NC and will be back in a few days to Lake Ariel where I live. Call me at 570.856.7307 I will work to get you a place if you already don't have one.

Because I am in the Washington-Metro area, in addition to the military cost-of-living incentive the military provides they also provide information about the area. I suggest you contact the military base to which you will be assigned and go from there. If you are transferring to the Fort Detrick, Maryland area give me a call: 301.717.5437 I will be happy to personally assist.

Easy to do, Contact a realtor and request that they put out an MLS ad on line for you. I work with Military families all the time. Actually, I have a few family members in the military. Ask and you shall receive. Let the realtor of your choice know what you need and when. They should be able to help you.
