Help the community by answering this question:

I am a homeowner in Morehead City, NC it is where Carteret Community College is located. I have a condo for sale on the waterfront - I don't know what cheap is to you coming from CA? Mine is $399,00 H-1 Atlantic Harbour with a boat slip. The boat slip is presently leased out. You can add to the search Morehead City (28557), Beaufort and Atlantic Beach - all just minutes away from the school you will be attending & the beach. My realtor is 800-240-6922 or 252-247-6922. Hope this might help.

My name is Jim Willis, a Realtor w/Century 21 Down East Realty, Beaufort, NC. I am a native of Carteret County and know the area very well. I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for approx. 2 years and you will like coastal NC. Carteret Community College is a very nice school and the area has a number of things to offer you that you will like. There are a number of very reasonable properties in the area that I think you will like. You can find a condo in Morehead City within a short distance of the college to meet your needs and at a relatively low price compared to CA prices. Prices starting the $100Ks, some even less and go up, depending on the area you choose to live. Beach condos and mainland condos are available to choose from and all located in very nice areas and at reasonable prices.

I would be more than glad to provide you with information on property available that might meet your criteria. You can contact me at or telephone (252) 241-1986 at anytime.

I live in Newport and know the area well. What is your time frame in moving here? Will you be doing a conventional loan? Do you need to be near any schools, etc?
I would appreciate opportunity to work with you. Just -email me and I can get started today.

Newport is a definite area I service, and there is alot on the market in and around that area, I know of a nice home right out of Newport, that has three bedrooms, and is a great starter home...Price is one thing, but choosing the correct mortgage company can mean thousands of dollars...I can inform you on the correct way to buy a house, and make your transaction smooth...Check out and see the advantage of allowing me to represent you in your housing search...or just call me at 252-349-3743, Steve McCurdy, Brass Lantern Realty

Newport covers a broad area here. There's the actual town of Newport and a whole lot of other communities that simply have Newport mailing addresses. I'd be glad to help you narrow down your search, but if you want to look around a little on your own, I have an MLS search on my website - you can search by town, price, #bedrooms, etc. By the way, I'm originally from Huntington Beach CA. Just moved from one ocean to another.
