Asked by natedgreat_usmc, Orlando, FL Mon Jun 30, 2008

I am a 27yr old professional relocating to Orlando from S.Florida. I am interested in purchasing, but I don't have much knowledge about the area, and need some advice on location. I would like to be close to the orlando watersports complex, and in quickest access to the beaches, nightlife.

I think you would love the downtown Orlando area. It is very hip and there are always things going on. The real estate market downtown is one of one of the best in the area. The Orlando Sentinel recently wrote an article about the strength of the downtown area. There are a lot of nice homes and condos available, and the appreciation in this area is better than the suburbs. You can walk to restaurants, parks, and shopping from many of our downtown neighborhoods. From downtown, you are just a quick trip down I-4 to the Orlando watersports complex, and you are super close to the "Beach Line" which is HWY 528 which will take you to Cocoa Beach or New Smyrna which are two are my favorite beaches. I live in the Thornton Park area of downtown which is about 1/2 from Lake Eola. I have lived here for about 15 years and I just don't think you can beat it. Call me at 407-898-9090 if I can help in any way.

Here is link on Mapquest that illustrates central
Florida relative to Disney World and the Water parks. Orlando is about 45-mins to an hour from the beaches Cocoa and Titusville. and Cape Canaveral.

The Orlando Watersports complex is just off of I-4 about 5-10mins from Downtown.
My suggestion is to get a map and go exploring. Get to know the area and the best way is to google stuff and get on the road. ( I know gas is expensive but buying a home in an area you might not like is more expensive).
Do what you are doing by asking here on this site. My colleagues and I are glad to help.
Rick.
