Any San Fran Bay Area resources for rental homes with (2) >50lb dogs?

Asked by Igillies, Arizona Fri Jun 27, 2008

Need to be within a reasonable commute of downtown financial district (Montgomery Station). Thanks for earlier responses- I'm reposting with clarified question. Craig's list is great but has limited pet listings. Any other websites, etc are greatly appreciated. We'll be buying once we get to know the area. Thanks!

Avalon Mission Bay is good. Check it out on Yelp.

I'd recommend you contact J. Wavro & Assoc. I'm not sure of the pay structure but I've heard him speak at the Apartment Owners Association. He does this deal called name that rent where the audience can describe a property and he and his team will tell you market rate. It's fun and I like to name my price before he does to see that I'm on the right track.
I have a property management company, Anchor Property Management, but don't have anything available now or coming up.
If Wavro works out remember where you heard it when it's time to buy.
Wavro link below good luck and if you decide to use him I'd like a review from you.

Do you have to be IN San Francisco, or will you consider other cities within a reasonable commute to the City? I live in Alameda and many of my clients work in San Francisco and commute via express bus or ferry to the City. Alameda is an island on San Francisco Bay between San Francisco and Oakland, and is about 10-13 miles away.

Our sister company is a property management company that may be able to find you a place that will accept large dogs. Go to http://www.glrealtor.com/rentals/ or call them directly at 510 522 3322.

There are several detached homes etc with yards that agree to rent to dog-owners. I know....I am renting out my duplex to people with dogs.

Greetings and welcome to S.F.! I have a three bedroom pet-friendly flat within a 10 minute walk to the Glen Park BART station (you can get downtown on BART in about 15 minutes). Not sure yet about the rent (possibly in the $3000-3200 range). It will be available in about a week. Glen Park is a great neighborhood, has easy freeway/BART access, great restaurants and parks nearby. The beach (Ft. Funston) is about a 15 minute car ride & a great haven for dogs.

Otherwise, check the SF SPCA's Open Door website site for other pet friendly options. I'd also create a pet resume if you haven't already. Due to insurance restrictions, some breeds are restricted.

Unfortunately, there is a shortage of pet-friendly rentals in S.F. You can always try to negotiate with a property owner by offering a larger deposit & hiring a dog walker when you're away at work &/or look into doggie day care when you're at work of which there are numerous choices in SF. A tired dog is a happy/good dog.

Let me know if you might be interested in my flat.

Best wishes,

We used to have more rental agencies in the area, but Craigslist put them out of business. You can try Access Property Management at 510-232-5001. They manage rental homes in El Cerrito, or Castle Rock Realty 510-528-9292. They specialize in homes in Berkeley.
Good Luck.
