Monmouth County offers several communities with Victorian homes. Do you want to be near the beach or in a small downtown environment. Beach towns with Victorian homes include Monmouth Beach - Lots of Victorians, easy access to Exit 109 on the GSP, Red Bank Train Station, and Seastreak Ferry out of Highlands, NJ. You will find a few Victorian homes scattered throughout Red Bank, Matawan, several in Freehold. Traveling further south in Monmouth County, you could look in Spring Lake, Sea Girt, Asbury Park, or Manasquan. There really are so many options in Monmouth County. The list continues. There are hundreds of victorians for sale in many beach towns such as Spring Lake but these are more in the million+ price range so it will come down to budget. Relatively affordable also. Of course Chatham and Madison in Morris, but values there are $600,000-$1,000,000 and up. Morristown and Morris Plains have a ton of Victorians, but a lot of mixed land uses, so you have to shop carefully to avoid being located near a commercial use or a railroad. Denville has some Victorians near the downtown area, great schools and downtown area. Wharton and Dover have some nice Victorians also. You didn't mention Essex County, but Montclair is a virtual sea of Victorians, however it's somewhat pricey. Although you can run into a nice Victorian that isn't over the top moneywise if you shop carefully. Again great Magnet schools also. Union is hit or miss. Lots of old houses, but a true Victorian like you are dreaming about is going to be expensive and probably located in a dense environment. Westfield is a mecca of Victorians, but pricey. If you have more questions, just ask. Keep in mind though that commuting times are going to be 90 minutes plus from all of these areas. Don't just look at the train or bus ride. Figure the whole trip.
