How do they compare to surrounding towns?

Answer by Norma Karter

All taxesand values for all homes in Colin County are available to the public. You can go to www.collincad.org and put in the address. The taxes in this area are made up of city, county, county college and school taxes. If you purchased a home in the city of Plano, county of Collin and Plano ISD then you would have taxes of 2.11% of the county's appraised value. In the case of 7020 Sharps Dr., the house is appraised at $197,637 which would be $4170 per year. The appraised value (not market value but tax value) is adjusted every year in April and the percent charged is adjusted later in the year. So the percent could change in 2009. Because school districts don't follow city boundaries in Collin County, if you lived in the City of Plano, Collin County but Frisco ISD then your taxes would be 2.17%. The link above also lists all the individual taxes for all entities. If I can be of any other service please let me know.
