Problem is, all we see are laborer positions. He has 20 yrs. exp, we are seeing a foreman or project manager possitions. Any ideas? As a former head hunter, i am aware these types of positions are not widely sought out. Any ideas of repuable companies loking to hire a valuable employee? Also from the mom's perspective, what is the school and sub. in the area? I hope you get the chance to move to Evans also...it is a great community and where I have lived and raised my family as well. We are very fortunate to still be a growing community although slower than a few years ago. We still have several good prospects for employment for construction background such as Savannah River Site (SRS in South Carolina), Vogtle Nuclear Plant (Plant Vogtle in Georgia), and Ft. Gordon. The Shaw Group will be employing many people in the nuclear industry at SRS and Plant Vogtle. They are building 2 new reactors at Vogtle and SRS has the MOX project. You may want to try checking out their websites under the "Career" tab for jobs. Try Googling: The Shaw Group and also Southern Company. Both are currently hiring.

My children grew up in the Columbia County school system and we have been pleased. There are many different types of subdivisions to choose from such as acreage subdivisions, patio homes, Charleston-style neighborhoods or tennis/golf communities with pool and clubhouse within walking distance to good schools.

I'm not sure what the job market is like there for those type positions. I can tell you that schools in that area are good Lakeside & Evans Clusters.

There are also some good homes to choose from as well. I would be happy to refer you to a good realtor in the area if you are interested.
