The purchase would not be dependent of a bank loan in America. The house would not be my primary place of residence however I would be looking at renting it out. Also, could you please advise of any other costs associated with purchasing a house, ie sales tax/property tax. Thank you.

Answer by Kristin Laurandeau

Hello Deano,
Normally a home you purchased to turn into a rental would not have homeowner's exemption status, so you would owe all taxes and you are also looking at capitol gains taxes. As for other costs I am going to recommend that you access one of the many title company websites available, Pioneer Title has a great one and you can calculate approximately how much you would owe. As for a non resident alien buying a home and taxes that is out of my realm..I would suggest talking to a real estate attorney about that.
The title company website is www.pioneertitleco.com
