This may or may not be a long-term contract depending on how the job is. At the least i think we will be there for 3 years(?). I am wondering whheter it would be best to rent or buy. I have two children 17 and 14, so they will be out to college soon. Please show me examples of homes in these areas. 400K max to buy and 2500max to rent. 3 bed and 2 bath.

Answer by Chris Glahn

Hi Gigi,
I would wait till you determine if this is a long term contract with your work before you decide to buy. Many homes on the market have a rent with a option to buy this may be your best choice for the near future.

Real estate is a long term investment, and there is no guarantee that you would get a return on your nvestment within 3 years. In rent you would get no tax advantage, nor return on investment. I would suggest you look properties over at the site below and get a feel for pricing to begin with. You can also contact me at my email address on ths site for additional questions or concerns.
