Hi Christina & Adam, I grew up in Rye and can tell you it is very community oriented. If you are looking for a vibrant nightlife there isn't much but a few cool bars. White Plains has the best nightlife in Westchester in terms of activity and options. I love Rye because of it's warmth, proximity to the beach, hiking trails, and everything else. There are many buildings that have a mixed variety of professionals, for sure. Hope this helps!... more
Coney Island has become extremely family oriented. The neighborhood has been rebuilt since the storm. Grimaldi s pizza, Applebee's, NY Aquarium, Tom's Diner are just to name a few of the places that have recently opened up.... more

Go to the TKTS building (the day of the show) in Times Sq and there is also one in the South Street Seaport that not many people know about. It's not as congested and crazy down there. As for underground events you can check out the various little magazines and papers in cool downtown shops (east village etc)

Can be OK if you are in a "category" like young single, park parent,or barfly. Personally, I find it diverse and kind of cute but people don't necessarily befriend each other in all these restaurants, bars etc.

Egen is correct. DOB 280 Broadway. But it's probably on microfilm and while they are open from something like 8-4 you can only get the information until 12 or 1. I forget the exact times but go early in the day and have patience.
