First of all, the houses that you are seeing in the "foreclosure listings" that do not have an address are currently not on the market, and, the majority of them are in pre-foreclosure and not yet owned by the bank. These pre-foreclosure "listings" hit Zillow and Trulia when a Notice of Foreclosure has been filed sown at the Courthouse with the Register of Deeds. In fact, a number of these homes never come on the market for reasons such as the owner was able to catch up or get a loan mod.
When you see a "price" of $89,000 in a neighborhood of $300,000 houses, you have got to remind yourself that if is looks too good to be true, it is! What you are seeing is the amount of money owed to whatever lender filed the Notice of Foreclosure, and not what the house would sell for on the open market. It can, in fact, be a seemingly small amount, as a junior lien holder (a second mortgage or even an HOA) can foreclosure on a property before the first lien holder joins into the mix.

As a former educator and a teacher in Char/Meck, I feel more comfortable recommending the Fort Mill schools over any other based on test scores, rankings and personal experience. Very sorry to hear about your situation. What concerns me is, did you go at this alone? It's very hard to give an answer without seeing all the facts! My advice to you is to sit down with the builders to get a better understanding of what's going on. I am almost certain that no builder in town wants a bad rep for not taking care of clients. That's the first thing I suggest! Sit down and meet with them. If the results from the meeting are not in your favor, then I suggest getting an attorney involved. When looking for a condo from so far away, it is critical that you develop a strong and trusting relationship with an agent that represents you only, and not any of the condo sellers. Your buyer agent will be able to tell you which units are truly the best values and which deals are simply too good to be true. For example, some units may be in buildings that are in poor condition or have HOA's with no reserve funds. Some complexes have wonderful amenities, and some have little to none, or ones in poor condition and no useable. You also want to be wary of complexes with an unusually high percentage of rentals or a high percentage of owners who are behind on their HOA dues.
You also need to be aware of the true costs of owning the property. You need to know exactly what your monthly costs will be so that you can "compare apples to apples" when looking at several units. Your monthly costs will include your HOA fees, taxes & utilities. Your buyer agent can outline all of the costs for you so that you can make the best educated decision possible.
