I know your question is from several months back but I'm just seeing it. Homewood is a very nice community and we have lived there for 18 years. We moved from Pelham just because we want to raise our kids in Homewood. The neighborhoods are great and the schools are perfect for us. It's a very sought after real estate market and school system. As far as safe, it's as safe as you make it. You have to be active in the community and keep an eye out for neighbors regardless. All of the elementary schools are top performing academically. Our High School Band starts training kids in the 6th grade and has been invited to perform in the Macy's parade and Rose Bowl multiple times. There's a niche for everyone in Homewood even if you don't have kids! I hope this helps!... more

In our neighborhood of meadowridge we have a neighborhood watch program and all are very active in it. In fact, we have two law enforcement officers with units in their driveways that live here. I feel totally safe!!! Hope that helps you.... more

In any case, real estate agents are not allowed to answer those types of questions as they violate Fair Housing rules and guidelines. Your best bet is to contact the police precinct in that area.

This is an excellent area for raising a family. There are a lot of young families in this area. We live in Mt Carmel By The River subdivision but know many young families in surrounding subdivisions. Chase Park Church of Christ on Winchester rd has an excellent kids program, very active and lots of kids/ young families. They even have plans to expand next year for a bigger auditorium. Highly recommend it.... more
