I hope you were able to find a rental but if not, check Craigslist, Zillow, Trulia and local property management companies. Also, you can also visit https://www.rentometer.com/ to see how much rent prices are (you can do the same thing on Zillow).

So I'm confused on what the complaint is. If the lender is willing to give you your money back how are you losing? Regardless of where the money comes from it doesn't matter as long as you get it. Your landlord is not required to give you that money back. And it doesn't sound like he's going to. The borrower probably used that money you gave him to move into his place he's residing at now so he doesn't have the money anymore. That's a chance you take when you rent from a private person. If you would have rented from a property manager they would have checked to make sure the Notice of Default hadn't been filed. They wouldn't have let you move in if the property was in active foreclosure. Take the cash for keys and use that money to move into a new place. Cash for keys can be up to $5,000. So you are still a winner in this situation. Hope that helps.... more
Hi Sandy - I guess it depends on what you consider affordable. Expect to pay about $$400 to 500 per bedroom (ie: $1500 for a 3 bedroom, $2000 for a 4 bedroom). If a property is remodelled or beat up, the price goes up or down a bit from what I stated. Davis is an open market, so prices are influenced by demand which is normally pretty strong all the time.
