Cost per square foot is going to vary greatly depending on what materials you want to use. Start at a low of $75.00 per square foot if you are your own general contractor and can do much of the work yourself and it will climb from there.
That is actually a really low cost per square foot. Most builders do a cost plus 10% model or something close. I have some clients that recently completed construction on a $600,000 home and worked as their own GC (general contractor) when all was said and done they figured the savings a decent contractor would have netted them by making fewer mistakes and having better access to wholesale pricing they could have paid the builder and saved the headache. Keep in mind there are going to be many sub contractors on a build job and a experienced builder will know who to use and what the going rates are.
I do have some local builders that I could recommend. Stop by my website, shoot me an email, or give me a call. I can at the least put you into contact with some people who will give you some solid advice and insight.... more
