Waterbury is a very large city: parts are very dangerous, other parts are quite nice to live in. I live in a neighborhood that touches Middlebury, a lovely town with old-money residents; it's about a 1-minute drive away. I don't worry about crime. I do think Waterbury taxes are a crime, though!... more

I understand that you want to feel safe. The average rent in Waterbury for a 3 bedroom is anywhere between $800-$1000. This was always out of my price range....way out of my price range !
