Hi Cbsprings,
When an agent lists a property in the local MLS we can choose to "auto-fill" the property information from the county tax records which would include the square footage, lot size and property taxes among other things.
If the square footage in the tax record is incorrect then this information would be incorrectly filled in the listing. Your agent can update the correct square footage manually in the system if this is the case.
Hope this helps...

Your agent would have to make that change or you can contact Trulia and let them know. It also may be pulling the wrong info from the MLS and Tax Record that could be the issue.

Hello Cbsprings,

I see this question is several years old but nonetheless, it's an important question.

You can contact the the tax assessments office and ask for a correction of your public record.

hi Cbs, most all information on trulia is derived from some underlying MLS system. So if it is inaccurate in the MLS, it will be inaccurate on trulia. That may or may not be the reason for the incorrect information -- but it is the most likely reason and therefore the first thing you should check. Have your agent correct it ASAP if that is the case.
