Hello Barbara! I have to confirm what Eileen said and also suggest you try Brooklyn or Long Island City...
Are you looking for a loft in Soho ,Manhattan? Did you mean $2,20000.00?
The days of finding an bargain artist/industrial loft are decades over! An artist friend of mine about 4 years ago was renting part of her Soho loft out for $3000.00 with no kitchen and what a deal it was then! ( it was over a noisy bar too!) I'm not a loft expert and I 'm most familiar with the Upper Westside, but this past August the least expensive apartment I was able to find in Manhattan, for my client was a tiny 5th floor 2 room apartment walkup on East 34th St for $1750 without utilities or laundry facilities!
Good luck!

Barbara,

Your best bet is to keep on top of your internet searches. Additionally, with that budget, you need to find a couple of roommates. Soho is one of the more expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan and $2200.00 may be unrealistic. However, nothing is impossible. Persistence is the key to your search.
