If you could break real estate professionals into 5 types on Voices what would they be? So we can figure out order of popularity, please list them in order of preference (1 being most desired, etc).
Some background: Currently when you sign up for Voices you can select your member type as being: home buyer, seller, other, both, or real estate professional. We're going to expand the real estate professional member type to include other types of professionals who work with people in the home buying/selling process.
I think it is a great idea to expand the types of professionals, I think it would be very helpful to know where the background is on some of the comments. There are some very good suggestions. I would group Escrow and Title together,
Inspectors and appraisers
Mortgage specialist and lenders
Agents and Brokes as suggested by earlier posts.
Good ideas, great question.
I agree with Jim and Deborah and others, but why limit to 5 since this is a one time set up?
Maybe not too, too many but more than five? Perhaps start with something and then add onto the list when participation in that category increases?
Realtor and Broker (NAR affliated) - I think when a broker is committed to NAR, their agents will be required to join
agent and broker (none NAR)
Mortgage Pro
Title and Escrow
Real Estate Attorney
Inspectors / Appraisers
Other Support Staff (Stager, Mover)
I would distinguish between Realtors (agents and affiliates who are members of NAR and their local asssociation, who have promised to uphold the NAR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice) and non-members, who must also obey all state, local, and federal laws, but are not bound by the Realtor Code of Ethics.
Nothing wrong with not being a member... I was a nonmember licensee for 9 years, I got licensed in 1985; I joined NAR in 1994, to further my RE career.
Do you think that home inspectors, appraisers, people involved in planning/zoning, builders/construction, insurance or any other area of expertise should be recognized as such so that people can see what direction their thoughts are coming from?
Maybe there can be a special category for agents who answer every question but never add anything of value, except maybe to be a personal google search, or to recommend using a realtor or trying to get a referral?
I would agree with Deborah and in the same order.
