Using Trulia in Las Vegas>Question Details

Does anybody else find it annoying that Trulia no longer allows paragraph breaks when answering questions?

Asked by Paul Francis, Las Vegas, NV Sat Feb 8, 2014

Been awhile since I've answered a question on Trulia and just noticed that everything runs together in the answer. Difficult to read longer answers and it doesn't look good.

Where's the petition to sign to have Trulia allow paragraph breaks again so answers look professional when responding to questions?

Hi all,

This is a known issue that our engineering team is working to fix. It is not an intentional feature change. We hope to have a fix shortly.

Thanks Kim... good to know it's not an intentional feature change. Have a Great Day!

It does make it much harder to organize thoughts when reading responses. This is a reason the english language uses paragraphs. I think there should have been a better way to achieve whatever their goal was without making it so visually unpleasant.

I am not sure why Trulia changed the setting.
I know that I have been getting many spam calls and emails in the past months
and it is annoying. maybe a Rep from Trulia can answer this question?

there are a number of glitches in their system and they are supposedly "looking into it"! 1. can't type with paragraphs or spaces between sentences...........2.only the 1st response on a forum shows up on the main page rather than the most recent one..3. now this annoying "captcha" requirement that is being used to stop the massive spam attacks

It does often appear there is a universal response to all questions on Trulia. :"Contact me and I will help you. Even on idiot questions or complex ones where seeing an answer might be interesting. Does not seem to be much thought. Perhaps a paragraph limit is in fact a feature?

I've never seen so many #1 agents in the world . Well ill tell ya I'm not a mega agent or a super duper agent . I'm not even #2 in production . I'm probably number 7685 . I just do my job to the best of my ability and knowledge for people who trust and value my expertise .

Pretty much , but don't forget all the ego that goes along with that . Call me , I'm #1 in the blah blah blah blah blah and I can help you with all your needs because I have abr , Len, arp , wtf , idk . Blah blah blah . Are you still talking . No wonder this industry is not taken seriously .

Those universal responses always remind me of Ned from "Groundhog Day"... and makes me think that I'm going to dread doing a deal with the "auto responders"..

Yes! It makes it extremely hard to read! And now it looks like they have also added captcha text which my eyes find hard to read. Also, since the update, I can no longer post to the blog.

it's ridiculous! And I wasn't seeing so much spam on Trulia that it seemed warranted.
Flag Sun Feb 9, 2014
Only took 3 times for Captcha text to like me the last time I answered a question.. :)

Hate those darn things. Old eyes need nice Times Roman to decipher well.
Flag Sat Feb 8, 2014
...not sure if it's intentional or not, but it does discourage agents from posting their long list of contact methods and credentials and tag lines after every post. Some of them were ridiculous!

it's a glitch - they are supposedly "working on it"......along with the other glitches
Flag Sat Feb 8, 2014
I can certainly agree with that reasoning.. but it was easy to just skip over / ignore those answers in the past. Now it's all bunched together and not so obvious there's no real substance. :(

On the downside, it discourages deep, complex and well thought out responses and explanations. It requires the writer to dumb it down and get to the point. ...it wouldn't be the first time I've criticized trulia for policies rewarding quantity (or frequency in this case) over quality.

Yes, Paul - this issue (one of several ) has been ongoing for a few weeks now - no idea why it is happening, but I agree- it is annoying and makes it difficult to organize your thoughts when answering a question....difficult for others to read it, too.
Trulia is aware of this - I emailed them!..............they are "working on it" - famous last words

Thanks Debbie... I was a little perplexed as to why the answers to a question from some great real estate agents looked like a 7 year old submitted the answers with the way they were structured ... and then I submitted mine. Lol.

It's very frustrating . I typed a few answers a couple days ago and it told me not to use profanity and it wouldn't let me post . I read every word and dint use any **c**g profanity . I don't get this. And typing in a captcha is really stupid .

Love it Debra Rose . Ill try not to be so dotty next time
Flag Sun Feb 9, 2014
when that happens you have to play around with it as it never seems to make sense. I discovered it won't let you use too many "dots"......................in between sentences (which is what I do to separate sentences now that we can't type with paragraphs)...too many "dots" and it says "no profanity" ! I tried typing "call - grl escort service spam" and of course it didn;t allow that - I had to type "grl" instead of "girl" ! Very frustrating!

It told me one of my answers did not make sense! :)

Is anyone else having trouble posting to the blog? I haven't been able to post since the update. I keep getting error messages.

Most of the answers don't seem related to the question.

I'm assuming that's for all of the questions asked on Trualia? That's going to be the case on any site / forum unless it's very well monitored with human moderators. Pretty sure I have numerous blog comments on my personal site to delete for the day talking about dogs, casinos, nightclubs, etc, etc.. Lol.
Flag Sat Feb 8, 2014
what does that mean?
Flag Sat Feb 8, 2014
Just another day and another blemish for our beloved Trulia IT's

Not really. What I find annoying are these stupid spam prevention words that do not prevent anything but others answering questions. Stupid Trulia - Stupid.

Lots of laughing... Yes... Had to go through that 3 times before I got it right. Tough to read the Captcha words given. Thank the automatic spam bots for Trulia adding that. On average, I have to go through and delete 10+ of these a day on my personal blog so I can only imagine how many a large site like Trulia was getting.
