This home located on New York Ave is a little bit of a hike to the West Hempstead LIRR station. I would give it about a 20 minute walk. There is a public parking lot directly across from the LIRR station which may be your best bet if you aren't up for the walk.

While the W. Hempstead line is fairly close to you ( I live 4 blocks from the house in question), you need to look at the LIRR schedule. This line is one of the worst. Rush hour trains are not too bad, only changing at Jamaica. But most off hour trains require an additional change at Valley Stream.
I know a number of people who drive from WH to the New Hyde Park station - a bit further but NHP is on the main line, plenty of express trains and you can park on the local streets.

I used to take the West Hempstead Branch. It should be just shy of a mile away if I recall correctly. Wasn't too bad of a walk especially in the summer time. Here is more information on the station:
