Hi,
Yes there is public transportation in Hinsdale. The Pace bus is a commuter bus that transports folks from the area to the metra which is located in downtown Hinsdale.
Hinsdale is a great place to live because of the Burlington Northern (METRA) train lines run right through downtown Hinsdale. The line runs between Chicago and Aurora. The PACE bus service also services some areas, but call them for details. I live in the area and find it most friendly for commuting either by train or by the north -south and east- west highways that are around Hinsdale and Oak Brook.
The reason many people like myself like Hinsdale is the public transportation aspect to the town,. The town has three train stations, and has express trains to downtown, a feature most towns do not have. The train line itself ends up in Aurora or downtown, and can stop along the way depending upon the train. Hinsdale has the Pace bus coming out of downtown Hinsdale to Burr Ridge, and taxis at the train station. On top of that, it is located close to three major expressways (290, 55, and 294). An unbelievable set up to get places!
Towns lined up along the commuter train lines are likely to become even more desireable if gas prices remain high. Hinsdale has the Burlington northern line go righ through it. Lots of business executives use it to commute to their downtown offices.

April: Call PACE and they can give the service area information, schedule and routes. Call 1-800-606-1282. There is of course the train.
April,
I think all that is available is the train and cab service.
