What is the commute like from Woodstock to Roswell and Woodstock to Kennesaw at 8am and 5pm?

Asked by lindseycr, Atlanta, GA Sat May 18, 2013

We are relocating to the greater Atlanta area. My husband works in Kennesaw and I just accepted a job in Roswell. I prefer the Woodstock area to Marietta, but we are worried that the commutes will be too long. We relocated here because of his 1.5 hour commute so time on the road (and away from family) is a big factor for us when choosing a house. Thanks!

To be honest, anywhere in the Atlanta area is producing high levels of traffic at most times of the day. Like others said, just going from one end of a satellite city, (i.e. Marietta, Acworth, Woodstock, Roswell, etc.) to the other can take upwards of 30 mins sometimes. Your best bet is to accept the fact that you will be commuting since you both work in different cities. If I had to pick I would go with the north eastern part of Marietta as to me that is the closest equal distance travel times. That said, you will be in a higher price point to live there these days.

I live in Woodstock. I go to Kennesaw often, usually the back way. Just a few minutes. Roswell is longer, more traffic and no real back way to go. I moved here from Marietta 25 yrs ago. Both are great places to raise a family, to work and play. I live in a planned community with library, medical, schools, shopping, churches etc. My area has a lot to offer. I realized the opportunity early on. I will be glad to help you with your concerns and questions. We do have schools that rank nationally. I have 3 grand daughters in our community schools. Lots of sports and social activities in addition to top academic opportunities. The older one has been tapped for a full ride scholarship in a prestigeous college. Betty & Re/Max Town and Country.

Welcome to Georgia, Lindsey!

In the scheme of things Kennesaw and Roswell are very close together. Like Rodney said below, your commute will vary depending on what part of town you live in. Try to find a home between your places of work and you will see a real reduction in your current commute time. Check out Georgia DOT's website below to see where traffic is most heavy during the times you will actually be commuting.

Woodstock is located very close to both Kennesaw and Roswell. Of course, it will all depend on exactly where in Woodstock vs where in Kennesaw and Roswell you will each be going. In Atlanta, our cities cover a lot of land. It could easily take you 15-30 minutes just to get from one side of Roswell to the other side in peak traffic. Roswell is more spread out than Kennesaw or Woodstock.

The commute from Woodstock to Roswell is around 15 miles and about 30-40 minutes with moderate rush hour traffic, lindseycr, while Woodstock to Kennesaw would normally take about 20-25 minutes for an approximate 10 mile drive in similar conditions. Consider looking at neighborhoods in Woodstock that give you multiple options for the daily drive. Please call, text or email if we can provide further assistance. Good Luck!
