Thank you for your question. Madison is a great location with a so much to offer. Madison offers a great variety of out door music concerts, Taste of Madison, The University OF Wisconsin events. The one thing Madison can not offer you are warm winters like AZ. LOL. The property values here are fair and seem to show a consistent growth. The public transportation is great with bus access. The city will continue to grow with more option to offer. You will enjoy the Madison area. Come on out and let us find your next home for you.

It seems that Madison, WI is a popular destination for people who currently live in AZ and parts of FL. Our website gets a lot of hits from visitors who live in these areas. It really makes sense to me with Madison, WI having many things going for it. You might want to also consider areas such as Middleton, WI (CNN Money's #1 Place to Live), and Fitchburg, WI as well. Directly bordering Madison public transportation is available within most parts of these 2 cities as well.

My parents moved me to Phoenix when I was in fifth grade. We lived Right on the border of glendale and phoenix. I know live in the madison area.

Your questions is great, and many answers below give great info. The community car would be an excellent choice. With publice transportation here don't forget that you would be waiting outsided for most of it.

Have you lived in Wisconsin before or have family here? My parents who retired five years ago, go south for the winter and park their RV and usually stay at my house or my brothers during the summer. They think the winter is to cold in Madison, and the summers are to hot in the south

The best aspect of our public transportation is Community Car. You can sign up for one of the cars when you need it.

I have lived in Madison for 18 years and have always found the public transportation system very helpful and convenient. In addition to a regular bus service to most of town, there are several private companies that provide transportation to the elderly and disabled. The walking and biking trails are excellent and most are interconnected so you can see and enjoy the many lakes and arboretum.

Please also conside Geneva National Golf Community. We are South of Madison, close to beautiful Lake Geneva and a wonderful 1600 acre resort community. We are a gated community with townhomes, condos, single family homes and vacant lots all in a wooded location that is high and rolling with three magnificent golf courses. Liane, congratulations on your upcoming retirement. You're swimming against the current! I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone retiring from Phoenix to Wisconsin, but aside from the winters, I have heard nothing but great things. I'm sure winter doesn't sound like a terrible thing to you at this time of year either. I live in Scottsdale, and wouldn't mind a few feet of snow right about now. I have a cousin who relocated to Madison from Washington D.C. last year. I'll ask her opinion on the public transportation system and post it here.
